Lanolin

Rich animal-derived emollient

Dry skin Animal-derived Potential allergen

What is Lanolin?

A waxy substance from sheep’s wool (lanolin alcohol is a fraction of it, sometimes labelled “wool alcohols”). It softens skin and seals in moisture, which makes it useful for very dry or chapped skin. It is not plant-based, so it is unsuitable for vegans, and wool alcohols are a recognised contact allergen — if you have reacted to lanolin before, check labels for it.

In skincare terms, Lanolin is an emollient that softens skin and helps support a smooth, comfortable feel.
